Anna Maria Island Festivities

On December 12^th,the inhabitants of Anna Maria Island and any visiting holidaymakers were treated to a Christmas privateer parade on Gulf Drive. The parade started at the City Bay Front Park and travelled through Anna Maria Island ending at Coquina Park.

This year the parade consisted of a bus sized pirate boat crewed by a number of friendly and festive pirates, as well as candy and beads being thrown to spectators. As well as this there was also a further show in which boats were decked in festive decorations and lights as well as an annual chorus and orchestra concert.

As well as these Christmas celebrations, the residents of Anna Maria also held their 17^th annual Beach House Fireworks display to bring in the New Year, so anybody enjoying an Anna Maria holiday could watch not only the sunset over the beautiful beach but also fireworks.

Pine Avenue Restoration is an idea born out of a desire to preserve the original vision for a Pine Avenue promenade and to protect the critical and extremely limited ‘historic boutique business district’ of Anna Maria. Mike and I and 2 other investors Mike Coleman and Ed Chiles are developing the Pine Avenue properties with historically compatible structures housing first floor boutique retail shops and one residential floor on top. The look will take inspiration from the historic cottages that are currently interspersed on the street and existing historic buildings will be renovated where possible.
