Fishing is one of the most popular passtimes on Anna Maria Island. Fishing from your own deck at any of the Pineapplefish houses is a great way to enjoy time there, and many of our guest do. We have plenty of wonderful fish to catch including Redfish, Snapper, Mackerel, Black Drum, Snook, Trout and Amberjack.
Or you can take to any of the beaches, or either of our wonderful Piers – City Pier or Rod & Reel. Here you will find working fishermen usually early in the morning, fishing from either the Pier or from their boats, with all of their catch being sold to the local restaurants. Take a stroll up and watch them at work, or fish alongside them and see what you can catch! You can buy bait from any of the Piers, as well as the General Store, at the Historic Green Village on Pine Avenue.
And City Pier on a weekend, is a great place to go to fish. You can even enjoy a beer and some live music! We also have plenty of opportunity for deep sea fishing too! There are lots of fishing charters available on and around Anna Maria Island, with the Top 10 recommended here by the reviewers of Trip Advisor.
It is important however, that before you go ahead, you check out the fishing permit and license requirements as well as other rules and regulations. These laws are in place to protect you and the marine life, so please, we ask you not to ignore them!
