The Sun Shines on Gingerfish Warehouse!
Gingerfish, is our warehouse at 425 Pine Avenue, called so because of it's ginger coloring. Located next door to Beach Bums, this building was owned by Randall Srover and Dale Powers who used to use it as a car garage, and later a tile business.
After successfully testing photovoltiac solar panels on the roof at Beach Bums, we took the plunge and installed 102 panels, driving 3 solar inverters and generating peak power of 24KW (54 Megawatt-hours/year) on the Gingerfish roof, at a cost of $16,000. From here, we plan to use a lot of this power across the road at the Historic Green Village we are currently building, powering those commercial buildings. We have also factored in many energy saving projects into the renovation and re-use (you could say recycling!) of the Sears Cottage and Rosedale Cottage and plan on using grown-sourced-heat pumps to support the air conditioning that will also be installed, as wel as re-using rainwater. We hope to quality a rebate of up to 30% from Federal funds, due 18 month later.
